The Jewish Foundation of Manitoba was able to provide an emergency grant of $1,442 for eight children to attend the day camp at the Rady Jewish Community Centre.
“This gift allowed children, who would not otherwise have been able to, to attend our summer day camp. Because of this gift, children who recently immigrated were able to enjoy their first summer in Winnipeg and feel part of our community,” says Gayle Waxman, Executive Director of the Rady JCC. “In other cases, children who had faced recent hardships, such as the loss of a parent, were able to have a sense of normalcy,” adds Waxman.
When the Rady Centre contacted the Foundation about this need, the Foundation contacted donors who could make a distribution from their fund. Donors responded and the Rady JCC was thrilled: “I feel very lucky to work in a community that has an organization like the Jewish Foundation of Manitoba that in a matter of days can work miracles like this; this is one gift that will have a huge impact! Thank you again!”
