JFM Grant Gives Voice
to Cerebral Palsy Individual

Living with Cerebral Palsy requires Shelley Stewart to rely on attendant support for the majority of her needs. Shelley recently acquired a speech generating device, which has given her a new-found voice.

A grant from the Susan Rogers Fund at the Jewish Foundation of Manitoba provided Shelley with the accessories needed to make her Dynavox V speech generating device more portable.

"Shelley can now direct her attendants [and] talk to her family... She can interact with members of her community and can use the internet to connect with a variety of places and people,” says Laura Schnellert, Program and Membership Director of CPAM.

The state-of-the-art equipment has opened up a whole new world of conversation for Shelley. “Shelley is an intelligent, beautiful woman who is now delighted because she can channel her energy into advocating for children and adults who share her challenges," says Schnellert. "I would like to extend our thanks for the generous donation we received from the Jewish Foundation of Manitoba; we truly appreciate the generous contribution from the donors and the ongoing support.”

A gift to the Jewish Foundation of Manitoba can change a life.
Today. Tomorrow. Forever.

The next Grant application deadline is June 15, 2010. To apply for a Grant,
