History
In 1964, Winnipeg Jewish community leaders Joseph Halprin, Abe Werier and Sam Werier, and 119 other visionaries, established the Jewish Foundation of Manitoba. The intent of the Foundation was to support local agencies and programs, care for the vulnerable, promote Jewish culture and traditions, and ensure a healthy future for Manitoba. In the decades since its founding, the Foundation has flourished supporting, serving and shaping the community and demonstrating undeniably that the vision and legacy of its founders lives on.
The Jewish Foundation of Manitoba is a public foundation that manages a growing endowment fund that exceeds $70 million. Since its inception, the Foundation has distributed more than $30 million in scholarships and grants in the local community and across Canada. The Foundation invites you to realize your philanthropic dreams and strengthen and support the Jewish and general communities in Manitoba. Your gift to the Foundation will sustain and enhance myriad programs, services and charitable agencies across the province and ensure a strong and viable future for all Manitobans. |
