Irma Penn IMO Marvin Penn Educational Awards


Deadline – February 28 of any given year 

$7,500 per year each awarded to two recipients in Manitoba *

Applicants may either be students entering or enrolled in a post-secondary degree program and taking Judaic Studies courses or teachers in the Jewish educational or Hebrew Bilingual school system who are enrolled or entering a post-graduate program with the intent of furthering their professional development.

Consideration shall be given to students studying in Israel.

This award is based on academic achievement, community involvement and professional experience.

Financial need is not a consideration.

To be eligible for the Irma Penn IMO Marvin Penn Educational Award, an applicant:

  • Must be Jewish;
  • Must be a resident of Manitoba;
  • Must be a full-time, part-time, or summer student;
  • Must be studying in Manitoba or working in a Jewish educational or Hebrew bilingual setting in Manitoba.

Assuming the applicant meets the eligibility requirements set forth above, the following criteria will be used by the selection committee in recommending the award:

  • Academic achievement;
  • Volunteer work in the Jewish community;
  • Volunteer work in the local community;
  • Professional experience.

* The Jewish Foundation of Manitoba reserves the right not to award these scholarships on an annual basis. This is dependent upon the receipt of qualified applications as determined by the terms and conditions of the scholarship.

Scholarships are awarded for studies commencing in September of any given year.

The Jewish Foundation of Manitoba reserves the right to distribute the award over the course of five years to recipients studying part-time.
