The application period for Judaic Studies and/or Studies in Israel Awards is now closed and will reopen on January 1, 2025.

Judaic Studies and/or Studies in Israel

Deadline – March 31 of any given year

Awarded to students who are in need of financial assistance to attend a full-time (60% minimum course load) university, college, post-graduate, or summer program in Judaic studies and/or an educational institution in Israel. This award is based on financial need, academic achievement and community involvement.

To be eligible for an award for Judaic studies and/or studies in Israel, an applicant:

  • Must be applying for, have been accepted into, or be continuing studies in a university, college, post-graduate or summer program in Judaic studies and/or an educational institution in Israel;
  • Must demonstrate to the satisfaction of the selection committee that they are in need of financial assistance in order to pursue the program; *
  • Must have a minimum GPA of 2.0 or ‘C’ average;
  • Must be a resident of Manitoba.

* The Jewish Foundation of Manitoba may require information above and beyond that requested in the application in order to confirm financial need. If required, the applicant will be notified.

Summer programs will be considered but are low priority.

Assuming the applicant meets the eligibility requirements set forth above, the following criteria will be used by the selection committee in recommending an award:

  • Financial need;
  • Academic achievement;
  • Involvement in the local community;
  • Volunteer work in the Jewish community;
  • Volunteer work in the general community;
  • The nature and length of the program to which the applicant has applied or been accepted.

Scholarships are awarded for studies commencing in September of any given year.
